The search for a true friend

Even before going into hiding, Anne Frank writes in her diary that she  longs for a friendship in which she can reveal her true self. The thirteen-year-old decides to confide in her fictional friend Kitty by writing a diary in order to come to terms with her loneliness: “I hope I will be able to confide everything to you, as I have never been able to confide in anyone, and I hope you will be a great source of comfort and support.” (0%)
