‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ is the first of a series of seven books written by British author J.K. Rowling. After having been published first in 1997, the book still attracts impressively high numbers of readers. Its subject is highly original and it revolves around the surprising turn taken by an eleven year old boy’s destiny.

Harry Potter was an eleven-year-old boy who lived with Mr. and Mrs. Dursley at number four, Privet Drive, in the London suburbs. He had lost both his parents following a car crash (according to his aunt and uncle), at the age of one. Petunia was his mother’s sister and she used to talk about how strange Lily (Harry’s mother) had been as a child.
