Presentation of the play
The play, Hamlet, is written by the famous play-writer William Shakespeare, who lived from 1564 to 1616. Hamlet is written between 1599 and 1601, and its sub-genre is tragedy.
The play is about a prince called Hamlet. He is told by his father's ghost that his father was killed by his uncle Claudius. Hamlet then wants Claudius dead, and is eager to get revenge against him. He decides that he needs some proof about what the ghost had said, before doing anything. He pretends then to be crazy,
and he gets a few actors to play the scene of his father's death, to see how Claudius would react. When he finds out that Claudius get shocked by the play, he knows that he did it.
